Lankans win as Kiwis crumble to Herath spin: 1st Test, Day 3 (Galle)

Left arm spinner Rangana Herath (6-43) exposed New Zealand's weakness against spin as Sri Lanka raced to a crushing 10-wicket win after starting the day almost even. The Kiwis resumed at 33-1 before Herath tore through their batting line-up as they lost 9-83 in the space of 32 overs. Debutant Dimuth Karunaratne (60 not out) and Tharanga Paranavitana (31 not out) reached the target in the 19th over. Sri Lanka 247 (Mahela Jayawardene 91, Mathews 79, Southee 4-46) and 93 for 0 (Karunaratne 60*, Paranavitana 31*) beat New Zealand 221 (McCullum 68, Flynn 53, Herath 5-65) and 118 (Flynn 20, Herath 6-43) by 10 wickets. 1st Test, Day 3 (Galle), Nov 2012
