Defiant Du Plessis hundred on debut saves Proteas: 2nd Test, Day 5 (Adelaide)

Debutant Faf du Plessis scored an inspirational century as South Africa completed a thrilling draw in the second test against the odds after starting the day on a shaky 77-4.

Du Plessis' achieved his century on debut about 30 minutes after tea - he batted for almost 8 hours in total and 376 balls. Australia were frustrated twice by referral decisions, after Clarke had Du Plessis trapped in front immediately before and after the drinks break.

South Africa 388 and 8 for 248 (du Plessis 110*, Siddle 4-65, Lyon 3-49) drew with Australia 550 and 8 for 267 dec. 2nd Test, Day 5 (Adelaide).
