India secure rare series win after SL crumble: 3rd Test, Day 5 (SSC)

India bounced back to secure a historic 2-1 Test series win on Sri Lankan soil after a gap of 22 years. The 117-run triumph was also Virat Kohli's maiden series win as captain.

Needing 319 more to win the Test, Sri Lanka were in a spot of bother at 107-5 until Mathews (110) and Perera (70) put on 135 runs. They then lost 5 for 26 to gift the win to India.

India 312 (Pujara 145*, Mishra 59, Prasad 4-100) and 274 (Ashwin 58, Rohit 50, Pradeep 4-62, Prasad 4-69) beat Sri Lanka 201 (Perera 55, Herath 49, Ishant 5-54) and 268 (Mathews 110, Perera 70, Ashwin 4-69, Ishant 3-32) by 117 runs.
