Shafiq, Sarfraz rescue Pak after SL crumble for 96: 2nd Test, Day 4 (Dubai)

Asad Shafiq and Sarfraz Ahmed hit defiant half-centuries to set up an enthralling finish after Pakistan had crashed to 52-5 chasing 317 for victory.

Shafiq was unbeaten on 86 alongside skipper Sarfraz Ahmed on 57 not out as Pakistan need another 119 runs for a series-levelling victory.

Earlier, paceman Wahab Riaz grabbed 4-41 and left-arm spinner Haris Sohail took 1-3 to dismiss Sri Lanka for just 96.

Pakistan 262 and 198 for 5 (Shafiq 86*, Sarfraz 57*) need 119 to beat Sri Lanka 482 and 96 (Mendis 29, Wahab 4-41, Sohail 3-1).
