Dhawan, Rahul lead Indian fightback: 1st Test, Day 4 (Kolkata)

Openers Lokesh Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan smashed half-centuries to lead India's fightback after conceding a first innings lead of 122 to Sri Lanka.

Rahul and Dhawan put on a 166-run stand to wipeout the first innings deficit before Dhawan fell for 94.  

Earlier, veteran spinner Rangana Herath hit a defiant 67 that steered the visitors to 294 in response to India's 172.

India 171 for 1 (Dhawan 94, Rahul 73*) and 172 lead Sri Lanka 294 (Herath 67, Bhuvneshwar 4-88, Shami 4-100) by 49 runs.
