Cook defiant as Pakistan take charge: 1st Test, Day 1 (Lords)

Mohammad Abbas and Hasan Ali shared eight wickets as Pakistan ended the day in a commanding position over England.

Alastair Cook scored 70 to ease pressure on him but England were nevertheless skittled out for just 184. Joe Root won the toss and Cook equalled Allan Border's record of 153 consecutive Test matches.

Pakistan then consolidated the good work of their bowlers by reaching stumps having lost just Imam-ul-Haq to be 50 for one.

Pakistan 50 for 1 trail England 184 (Cook 70, Abbas 4-23, Hasan 4-51) by 134 runs.
