Epic Kusal 153 stuns South Africa in thrilling 1 wicket win: 1st Test, Day 4 (Durban)

Kusal Perera’s stunning century lifted Sri Lanka to a sensational one-wicket win over South Africa after a record final-wicket partnership.

Perera smashed 153 not out as the tourists chased an unlikely 304 for the win. Some commentators described this as one of the greatest innings in a run chase.

Earlier, Perera and Dhananjaya de Silva (48) added 94 for the sixth wicket to give the Sri Lankans hope but a 3 wicket burst from spinner Maharaj left SL staring defeat at 226-9.

Perera then shared an astonishing 78-run stand with Vishwa Fernando for the last wicket. This was a record 10th-wicket partnership in the fourth innings of any first-class match to win a match.

Sri Lanka 191 (Perera 51, Steyn 4-48) and 304 for 9 (Perera 153*, Vishwa 6*) beat South Africa 235 (de Kock 80, Fernando 4-62) and 259 (du Plessis 90, Embuldeniya 5-66) by one wicket.
