Moeen stars as Engand pip Australia: 1st ODI (Oval)

Allrounder Moeen Ali took 3-43 as England edged to a three-wicket win over Australia after dominating the first half.

Chasing 215 for victory, England stumbled to 38-3 before Eoin Morgan and Joe Root repaired the damage. David Willey smashed 35 not not out to secure victory with six overs to spare.

Earlier, Moeen and leg spinner Adil Rashid had reduced Australia to 90-5 before Glenn Maxwell (62) got the visitors to 214 all out.

England 218 for 7 (Morgan 69, Root 50) beat Australia 214 (Maxwell 62, Plunkett 3-42 Moeen 3-43) by three wickets.
