Hit his first ball in Test cricket for six

Dhananjaya de Silva was born in Colombo on 6 Sept 1991. He is a right handed top order batsman who made his first class debut in 2011. He also bowls useful off spin.

After knocking on the selection door for some time with good first class and T20 performances, de Silva was picked for his T20 debut against Pakistan 2015. He was selected in the Sri Lankan team for the UK tour in 2016 and made his ODI debut against Ireland in Dublin.

de Silva made his debut against Australia in Kandy in the 1st Test in 2016. He hit his first ball for a six. In the 3rd Test in this series, de Silva hit 116 not out to steer Sri Lanka out of serious trouble at 26-5 and into a strong position at 214-5.
