Historic come from behind win: Pak-SL 1995

After being 1 down after the first test Sri Lanka made history by coming back to take the series 2-1.

This was the first time that Pakistan had lost any series at home since 1980.

For the Sri Lankans, Hathurusinghe, Aravinda and Tillkeretane shone with the bat, whilst Moin Khan was the sole batter to resist the Lankan attack. Murali (15 wickets) and Vaas (13 wickets) dominated the Pakistani batsman.

This was a significant achievement by Sri Lanka - their first series win in Pakistan. The bowling of Muralitharan and Vaas prevented Pakistan from capitalising on their opening victory - injuries to Waqar and Wasim Akram further impeded the home side. This was also invaluable experience for Sri Lanka leading up to the World Cup, where the conditions would be similar.

This series win was the start of the Lankan's road to the world cup victory - and now being taken as a serious team to beat in world cricket.
