Watson shines after Hughes is axed: 3rd Test, Day 1 (Birmingham)

Australia recovered from a disrupted start and enjoyed their best start of the series to finish at 126-1.

Shane Watson who replaced Phil Hughes made a sparkling unbeaten fifty in the 2 hours of play that was possible after the extended rain delay.

Keeper Brad Haddin suffered a broken left ring finger during the warmup but England's management agreed Graham Manou replacing him after the toss had been made.
