India fight to survive after record Lankan stand: 1st Test, Day 4 (Ahmedabad)

Sri Lanka posted a record score in India of 760-7 declared after continuing from 591 for five overnight. Mahela Jayawardene made 275 and scaled 9000 runs in Tests. He was involved in a world record stand for the 6th wicket of 351 with Prasanna Jayawardene who made 154 not out. In reply India made a good fist in its second innings as Gautam Gambhir scored an unbeaten 74 and Virender Sehwag 51 and Rahul Dravid 38 contributed in useful stands to end at 190 for two at the close still 144 in deficit.
