Marshall ton in vain as Aussies win opener: 1st Test (2005)

Hamish Marshall struck 146 but the Kiwis still lost to Australia by 9 wickets. The Kiwis made 433 after being placed at 330-3 at one stage.

The Australians were struggling at 2016 until Katich 118 and Gilchrist 121 put on a rescue act. The Kiwis took a 1 run lead into the second innings but collapsed 131 all out.
