Ryder and Oram upset South Africa: 2011 World Cup Quarter Final (Mirpur)

Jesse Ryder and Jacob Oram plotted to defy conventional wisdom in inspiring New Zealand to outplay South Africa in all departments of the game and enter the World Cup semi-final with a 49-run victory.

The Proteas folded for 172 in 43.2 overs after cruising to 108-2 at one stage leading to more calls of choking.

Earlier, New Zealand laboured to 221 for 8 (Ryder 83, Taylor 43, Morkel 3-46) as they eventually beat South Africa 172 (Oram 4-39) by 49 runs.
