Damning autopsy: Chappell, Hilditch and Neilson axed

The much anticipated review of Australian cricket was handed down by businessman Don Argus and his cricketing brains trust (Allan Border, Mark Taylor, Steve Waugh) with immediate repercussions for the coach, chief selector and national talent manager as their roles were abolished. 

A new chairman of selectors will be appointed on a full-time basis with Australian chief selector Andrew Hilditch, Selector Greg Chappell and coach Tim Nielsen high-profile casualties of a sweeping review into Australian cricket investigating the team's Ashes loss. Chappell's relationship with the players had broken down so badly he was barred from the dressing rooms while the team was batting.
