India knocked out by Faf despite dramatic 1 run win: ICC T20 WC S8 IND v RSA (RPS)

India's run came to a heartbreaking end after they were knocked out of the tournament despite a thrilling one-run victory over South Africa in their final Super Eights contest.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s side posted 152 for six, knowing that only a significant win by keeping South Africa under 121 would see them thru on Net Run Rate after Pakistan crushed Australia in the day’s first match in Group 2.

Faf du Plessis took the game away from Dhoni’s men with an inspired 65 off 38 balls with two sixes and six fours. The result sees Australia and Pakistan progress from Group 2 - to take on West Indies and Sri Lanka, respectively, in the semi-finals.

India 152 for 6 (Raina 45, Peterson 2-25, M Morkel 2-28) beat South Africa 151 (Du Plessis 65, Zaheer 3-22, Balaji 3-37)
