Cricket Australia raises spot fixing concerns, Hawkins confirms threat

Ahead of the 1st Test against Sri Lanka, Cricket Australia has ordered a major betting crackdown, in a leaked letter to bookies that reveals ongoing worries about the game's integrity in the wake of widespread spot fixing.

Ed Hawkins who wrote "Bookie Gambler Fixer Spy; A Journey to the Heart of Cricket's Underworld" says his confidence in cricket has been eroded "on the long trip to cricket's corrupt core". CA wants to ban betting on whether a batsman scores over or under a specified number of runs -- could, arguably, be manipulated only by players.
