Crime in Aussie sports: Senator calls to ban betting after darkest day

Australia's top sporting codes, including cricket, are in damage control after an investigation by the Australian Crime Commission uncovered widespread drug cheating and match fixing by underworld networks supplying drugs to players and support staff. Independent Australian Senator Nick Xenophon has called for an immediate suspension of sports betting as the major sporting codes haven't done enough to address the threat posed by organised crime via match fixing.Feb 2013
