Day 1 analysis: Clarke century overcomes DRS howler (Old Trafford)

Michael Clarke led from the front with a superb unbeaten 125 as Australia finished the first day on 3-303. Clarke's 24th Test hundred, and third in England, was Australia's first ton since he reached three figures against India in Chennai in February.

Usman Khawaja was victim, after the third umpire Dharmasena failed to overturn a caught behind decision by New Zealand umpire Tony Hill.
