Yuvraj Singh (139 in 122 balls) and VVS Laxman (106 in 130 balls) smashed tons in vain as Aussies scraped home under the DL method after a rain break.
India posted an imposing 296-4 but Australia chased down a revised target, reaching 225-8 in 33.5 overs as Gilchrist made 95 in just 72 balls.
