Ian Bell returned to form with a sparkling 167, sharing century stands with Gary Ballance (156) and debutant Jos Buttler (85 from 83 balls) as England declared on 569-7.

James Anderson then removed Shikhar Dhawan to leave India on the back foot.

India 25 for 1 trail England 569 for 7 dec (Bell 167, Ballance 156, Cook 95, Buttler 85) by 544 runs.
