England extend dominance after Root, Bell stand: 1st Test, Day 3 (Cardiff)

Ian Bell and Joe Root both scored 60 as England dominated by posting 289.

Australia need 412 to win the first Ashes Test after the England claimed the last five Aussie wickets for 44 runs to secure a first-innings lead of 122.

England 430 and 289 (Bell 60, Root 60) lead Australia 308 (Rogers 95, Anderson 3-43) by 411 runs.
