Aussies collapse, McClenaghan scripts win: 2016 WT20 No 17 AUS v NZL (Dharamsala)

New Zealand exacted revenge for the 2015 World Cup final loss with a dramatic eight-run win over Australia.

The highly fancied Australian were cruising as they raced to 37-0 after four overs but Mitchell McClenaghan's 3-17 proved decisive as they crumbled to 134-9. McClenaghan's heroics were part of a superb team effort by New Zealand with the ball with spinner Santner following up his man-of-the-match performance against India with the wickets of Steve Smith and David Warner to become the leading wicket-taker in the cup.

Earlier, New Zealand looked to be below par with the bat, being restricted to 142-8 after Martin Guptill's explosive 39 got them off to flying start. New Zealand 142 for 8 (Guptill 39, Elliott 27, Faulkner 2-18) beat Australia 134 for 9 (Khawaja 38, Marsh 24, McClenaghan 3-17) by eight runs.
