Starc delivers dramatic win over Panikstan: 2nd Test, Day 5 (MCG)

Mitchell Starc was the hero with 84 runs and four late wickets as Australia defeated Pakistan by an innings and 18 runs in a massive surprise.

In a game that looked like a tame draw, Starc and spinner Nathan Lyon capitalised on suspect Pakistan batting that was panic striken, to snatch an unlikely victory and secure the series 2-0.

Earlier, Starc (84) hit a record no of sixers (7) at the MCG and Steve Smith smashed an unbeaten 165 and gave his bowlers 68 overs on the fifth and final day to run through their opponents after declaring their first innings at 624 for eight before lunch.

Australia 8 for 624 dec (Smith 165*, Warner 144, Khawaja 97) beat Pakistan 9 for 443 dec (Azhar 205, Sohail 65, Hazlewood 3-50) and 163 (Azhar 43, Starc 4-36, Lyon 3-33) by an innings and 18 runs.
