The legend of W G Grace: First cricketing icon

William Gilbert Grace was the eighth child in the family, was lauded as one of the best players of his time.

WG scored nearly 55,000 runs in first-class matches, taking more than 2,800 wickets, his contemporaries were left in his wake.

He was an extremely competitive player and, although he was one of the most famous men in England, he was also one of the most controversial on account of his gamesmanship and moneymaking.
