Paceman Hasan Ali took 3-24 as Pakistan beat top ranked South Africa by 19 runs on the Duckworth/Lewis method to keep alive their Champions Trophy hopes.
David Miller (75 not out in 104 balls) held the innings together as Hasan Ali took and Junaid Khan stopped South Africa’s highly-rated batting line-up restricting them to a modest 219-3.
In reply, Morne Morkel removed both of Pakistan’s openers in his second over and reduced Pakistan to 41-2 before debutant Fakhar Zaman (31) and Babar Azam hit 31 not out to edge them ahead before the rain.
Pakistan 119 for 3 (Babar 31*, Morkel 3-18) beat South Africa 219 for 8 (Miller 75*, de Kock 33, Hasan 3-24) by 19 runs (DLS method).
