Spot fixing scandal? SL Chief accused of widespread corruption

Sri Lanka were crushed in another series whitewash, this time by Pakistan. This was Sri Lanka’s 16th defeat in a row in limited overs cricket in the past few months.

Sri Lank were previously beaten 5-0 and 3-0 by India and also lost an ODI series to Zimbabwe for the first time ever.

SL Cricket Chief Thilanga Sumathipala, who hails from a family of influential bookies, has been attacked by the SL media and critics on allegations of widespread corruption under his watch.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has setup a probe into spot fixing in SL cricket recently after former a former selector aired wrong doings and corruption in SL cricket.

The ICC had expressed satisfaction with security arrangements in Pakistan and sent a match referee and an anti-corruption official. Sumathipala had applied pressure on the SL players in recent days to play in Lahore but a significant number of senior players and coach Pothas refused to tour.
