Kohli hits double ton amidst smog controversy: 3rd Test, Day 2 (Delhi)

Virat Kohli scored back to back double hundreds for India and, in doing so, has now scored the most double-centuries by a Test captain.

Kohli smashed a career-best 243 before a blanket of smog prompted him to declare on 7-536. Sri Lankan players donned face masks to protest the severe fog that affected their players. Play was halted for 22 minuted amidst heated discussions with the umpires.

Angelo Mathews capitalised on an early reprieve to score 57 not out and skipper Dinesh Chandimal was on 25 with Sri Lanka still 405 behind on a hazy second day in the Indian capital.

Sri Lanka 131 for 3 (Mathews 57*, Chandimal 25*) trail India 536 for 7 dec (Kohli 243, Vijay 155, Rohit 65, Sandakan 4-167) by 405 runs.

Dec 2017.
