Mominul twin hundreds guide Bangladesh to safety: 1st Test, Day 5 (Chittagong)

Mominul Haque scored his second century of the match to help the Bangladesh reach 307-5 before the two teams accepted the draw with an hour’s play left.

Mominul, who made 176 in the first innings hit 105 off 174 balls. Liton Das scored 94 as the pair shared a crucial 180-run stand for the fourth wicket.

Late wickets gave Sri Lanka hope of a surprise win, but skipper Mahmudullah scored a defiant 28 not out alongside Mosaddek Hossain (8 not out) when the stumps were drawn.

Bangladesh 513 (Mominul 176, Mahmudullah 83*, Lakmal 3-68) and 307 for 5 (Mominul 105, Liton 94, Herath 2-80) drew with Sri Lanka 713 for 9 dec. (Mendis 196, Dhananjaya 173, Roshen 109, Taijul 4-219).
