Maharaj career best dents Sri Lanka: 2nd Test, Day 1 (SSC)

Spinner Keshav Maharaj took 8-116, the best ever figures by a South African spin bowler on the sub-continent, as Sri Lanka collapsed to 277-9.

Earlier, Sri Lanka had dominated with opening stand of 116 between Dimuth Karunaratne (53) and Danushka Gunathilaka (57).

The home team collapsed thereafter as the Proteas took 9-161 with the first three SL batsmen getting half-centuries and nobody else more than 22.

Sri Lanka 277 for 9 (Karunaratne 53, Gunathilaka 57, Dhananjaya De Silva 60, Herath 5*, Akila Dananjaya 16*, Maharaj 8-116) v South Africa.
