England pip NZ in epic super over tie: 2019 WC Final (Lords)

In a game already labelled as the greatest ever One Day match, England beat New Zealand to win the World Cup after the dramatic final was tied twice.

A steady 55 from Nicholls and a busy 47 from Tom Latham got New Zealand to 241 after winning the toss.

Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler hit fifties to steady England after they collapsed to 86-4.

Both teams scored 241 in their 50 overs and were level on 15 when they batted for an extra over apiece. It meant England were crowned world champions by virtue of having scored more boundary fours and sixes - 26 to New Zealand's 17 - in the entire match.

This was the first tie in a World Cup final.

New Zealand 241 for 8 (Nicholls 55, Woakes 3-37) tied with England 241 (Stokes 84*, Buttler 59, Neesham 3-43) Super over England 15 beat New Zealand 15 on boundaries scored.

July 2019.
