Williamson edges NZ ahead of India: 1st Test, Day 2 (Wellington)

Skipper Kane Williamson stroked a silky 89 as New Zealand earned a 51-run lead but India struck back with late wickets on day two of the opening Test.

The Kiwis finished 51 ahead of India as they closed at 216-5 when bad light halted play.

Earlier, debutant Kyle Jamieson (4-39) was among the wickets again as India were bowled out for 165 before lunch after the visitors lost 5-43.

New Zealand 216 for 5 (Williamson 89, Taylor 44, Sharma 3-31) lead India 165 (Rahane 46, Jamieson 4-39, Southee 4-49) by 51 runs.
