Maiden Klaasen century downs Aussies: 1st ODI (Paarl)

Heinrich Klaasen's eye-catching century delivered a crushing 74 run win over Australia.

South Africa were in early trouble as debutant Janneman Malan was trapped for LBW on the first ball of the match by Mitchell Starc.

Klaasen smashed seven fours and three sixes in an unbeaten 123 off just 114 deliveries. He shared a record 149-run fifth-wicket stand with David Miller (64) as they got the Proteas to 291/7, after they were reduced to 48/3 early on.

Ngidi took 3-30 as the home side applied pressure with the ball to limit Australia's response and seal victory in the 46th over.

South Africa 291 for 7 (Klaasen 123*, Miller 64, Cummins 3-45) beat Australia 217 (Smith 76, Ngidi 3-30) by 74 runs.
