Match Fixing: Sri Lanka sold 2011 World Cup Final says Sports Minister

Sri Lanka “sold” the 2011 World Cup final to India, the country’s former sports minister said reviving one of cricket’s most explosive match-fixing claims.

Mahindananda Aluthgamage, who was sports minister at the time, is the second senior figure to allege the final was fixed.

1996 World Cup-winning skipper Arjuna Ranatunga made a similar allegation in 2017.

Former Sri Lanka star players Mahela Jayawardene and then Skipper Kumar Sangakkara are on the defensive - they have asked for evidence after Aluthgamage alleged that team's 2011 World Cup final against India played in Mumbai was fixed.
