Denly, Burns defy Windies after lockdown ends: 1st Test, Day 1 (Southampton)

Joe Denly and Rory Burns defended grimly as England endured a frustrating return to international cricket on a rain hit opening day of the first Test against West Indies.

Only 17.1 overs were possible before rain ended play.

Opener Dom Sibley was bowled playing no shot to Shannon Gabriel to the fourth ball before Denly and Burns put on 35 runs across several interruptions to halt any further damage.

England 35 for 1 (Burns 20*, Denly 14*) v West Indies.
