Willey, Billings shine to thump Ireland: 1st ODI (Southampton)

Recalled David Willey and Sam Billings were the stars as England beat Ireland by 6 wickets in the 1st ODI.

Left arm paceman Willey took 5-30 as Ireland were dismissed for just 172 in a match that marked the return of white-ball cricket from the coronavirus lockdown.

In reply, England were stuttering at 78-4. But Eoin Morgan (36 not out) and Sam Billings, who made 67 not out, shared an unbroken fifth-wicket stand of 96 to seal the victory with 22.1 overs to spare.

England 174 for 4 (Billings 67*, Morgan 36*) beat Ireland 172 (Campher 59*, McBrine 40, Willey 5-30) by six wickets.
