Rahane dominates Aussies with classy century: 2nd Test, Day 2 (MCG)

Skipper Ajinkya Rahane defied the Australian bowling attack to post a magnificent century and enable India to take a 82 run lead after being under pressure all day.

On an overcast day at the MCG, Rahane (104 not out) batted for all but the first 11 overs, absorbing 200 deliveries to make his 12th Test century. Rahane and Jadeja out on a century stand for the 6th wicket when play ended early.

Australia were left to rue its missed chances, dropping three catches across the day's play. In the most critical miss, Travis Head dropped Rahane on the last ball of the day before the rains arrived.

India 277 for 5 (Rahane 104*, Gill 45, Jadeja 40*) lead Australia 195 all out by 82 runs.
