Root century dominates Sri Lanka: 1st Test, Day 2 (Galle)

Skipper Joe Root slammed his 18th century during his side's series-opening Test match against Sri Lanka after the hosts were bundled out for 135.

Root was involved in two century partnerships with Bairstow and debutant Dan Lawrence who struck 73.

The rains returned to wash out play late in the day.

England 320 for 4 (Root 168*, Lawrence 73) lead Sri Lanka 135 by 185 runs.
