Proteas outclass SL despite Chandima knock: 1st T20 (RPS)

Aiden Markram was the star as South Africa produced a superb performance to outclass Sri Lanka by 28 runs in the series-opening first T20.

Batting first, the visitors had a brisk start to their innings with openers Reeza Hendricks and Quinton de Kock out on a 73-run opening wicket stand as South Africa. Aiden Markram struck a powerful 48 in 33 balls. But Wanindu Hasaranga took 2-23 to peg them back.

Chasing 164 runs, Sri Lanka kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Dinesh Chandimal was the lone warrior stroking 66 not out off 54 balls as SL fell short by 28 runs despite South Africa dropping 5 catches.

South Africa 163 for 5 (Markram 48, Hasaranga 2-23) beat Sri Lanka 135 for 6 (Chandimal 66*, Maharaj 1-19) by 28 runs.
