Shaheen inspires nervous win over Ireland: 2024 T20 World Cup (Florida)

Skipper Babar Azam stood firm in a nervous chase to secure a three-wicket win over Ireland, a dead rubber after both teams were already eliminated.

After choosing to field, Imad Wasim and Shaheen Shah Afridi picked three wickets a piece to restrict Ireland to 106/9.

In reply, openers Mohammed Rizwan and Saim Ayub (both 17) fell during the powerplay. Barry McCarthy (3-15) dismissed Usman Khan and Shadab Khan in the same over, leaving Pakistan looking shaky at 57-5.

Babar (32 not out) was the rock as Shaheen Shah Afridi hit a six in the end to finish the game with 7 balls to spare.

Pakistan 111 for 7 (Babar 32*, McCarthy 3-15) beat Ireland 106 for 9 (Delany 31, Shaheen 3-22, Imad 3-8) by three wickets.
