Dhananjaya, Kavindu lead SL fightback: 3rd Test, Day 2 (Oval)

Skipper Dhananjaya de Silva and in-form Kavindu Mendis posted a fighting century partnership as Sri Lanka ended the day at 211 for five in reply to England's first-innings total of 325 at the Oval.

Sri Lanka had stumbled to 93-5 with paceman Olly Stone the pick of England's bowlers, taking 2-28.

Earlier, skipper Pope made it to 154 before being caught in the deep by Dimuth Karunaratne, Sri Lanka's second wicket in three balls, as they went on to make light work of the England tail. England lost their last 6 wickets for 35 runs.

Sri Lanka 211 for 5 (Dhananjaya 64*, Nissanka 64, Kamindu 54*) trail England 325 (Pope 154, Duckett 86, Rathnayake 3-56, Dhananjaya 2-18) by 114 runs.
