Mudassar Nazar was born on April 6, 1956 in Lahore, Punjab
He was a right handed batsman and right arm medium pace bowler who made his Test debut against Australia in Adelaide in 1976.
Mudassar holds the record for the slowest century in Test cricket. Batting as an opener, he defied England with 114 off 449 balls at Lahore in 1978
In 1983, Javed Miandad and Mudassar destroyed the Indian bowling in the Hyderabad Test. They went on to score 280 and 231 runs respectively and put on 451 runs for the third wicket against their arch-rivals.
With 10 centuries and 17 half-centuries to his name in Tests, Mudassar, son of former Test batsman Nazar Mohammed, was known for his elegant strokes and deft gameplay, often getting his country out of a tough situation. His highest Test score was 231. In ODIs, Mudassar had a top score of 95 whilst scoring 2653 runs. He also picked up 111 wickets, with a career best of 28/5. His Test bowling figures read 66 wickets from 96 innings, once taking six wickets for just 32 runs in an inning.
After retirement, Mudassar up took coaching roles with the Pakistan Cricket Board and the ICC.
