Anderson is first quick to 600 Test wickets: 3rd Test, Day 5 (Southampton)

Veteran paceman James Anderson made history against Pakistan in the drawn third Test when he became the first seam bowler to take 600 Test wickets.

The 38-year-old seamer reached the historic landmark figure when he had visiting captain Azhar Ali caught at slip by Joe Root.

Playing in his 156th Test match, Anderson became only the fourth bowler after three retired spinners - Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan (800 wickets), Australia's Shane Warne (708) and India's Anil Kumble (619) - to achieve the feat.

The 3rd Test ended in a draw after rain cut short play yet again. England won the series 2-0.

Pakistan 273 (Azhar 141, Rizwan 53, Anderson 5-56) and 187 for 4 (Babar 63*) drew with England 583 for 8 declared (Crawley 267, Buttler 152).
