Aussies poised for win after Warner, Bancroft stand: 1st Test, Day 4 (Gabba)

Openers David Warner and Cameron Bancroft smashed a century stand to have Australia headed for victory in the first Ashes Test.

Chasing 179, Australia was 114-0 at stumps with David Warner not out on 60 and Cameron Bancroft on 51 not out.

Earlier, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon all took three wickets apiece to bowl England out for 195 in its second innings.

Australia 328 (Smith 141*, Marsh 51) and 0 for 114 (Warner 60*, Bancroft 51*) trail England 302 and 195 (Root 51, Bairstow 42) by 56 runs.
