Hasaranga delivers dramatic win over Windies: 1st ODI (SSC)

Allrounder Wanindu Hasaranga inspired Sri Lanka to a dramatic one-wicket win over the West Indies with the highest successful chase at the SSC.

Earlier, the Windies had set the hosts a stiff target of 290 with Shai Hope leading the way with 115, his ninth ODI century.

Sri Lanka had a fast start with a 111-run first-wicket partnership between Avishka Fernando (50) and captain Dimuth Karunaratne (52) but stumbled to 253-7. Hasaranga (42 not out off 39 balls) produced a stunning batting performance to get Sri Lanka over the finish line.

Sri Lanka 290 for 9 (Karunaratne 52, Fernando 50, Hasaranga 42*, Joseph 3-42) beat West Indies 289 for 7 (Hope 115, Bravo 52, Hope 3-82) by one wicket.
