
Robert Reid Dower (1876–1964) appeared in one Test match for South Africa in 1899 and also played six first-class matches.
Dower assisted Cape Colony and Eastern Province making his first class debut in 1896-97. He played for South Africa in the first of the two Tests with Lord Hawke’s team at Johannesburg in February 1899, but in two innings scored 9 and 0. In 6 first class matches through to 1906-07 he averaged 6.83 over 12 innings with a highest score of 17.
He was a lawyer by profession.
Drover died on 15th September, 1964 aged 88 years 103 days. He was the oldest living South African cricketer at the time of his death.
