Born on 14 Nov 1974 in Maharashtra, Hrishikesh H Kanitkar played 2 tests and 34 ODI's for India between 1997 and 2000. A left hand batsman, he made a highest score of 57 whilst scoring 339 runs in ODI's. He also took 17 wickets with a best of 2-22 with his off-spin bowling. He is best remembered for hitting the final four runs in the Independence cup final against Pakistan, in fading light.
He made his test debut against Australia at the MCG on 26 Dec 1999 - he made 11 and 45 as Australia won by 180 runs.
Hrishkesh's father, Hemant Kantikar, also played 2 tests for India in 1974.
