Defiant India fights for honourable draw: 1st Test, Day 5 Highlights (Bangalore)

Needing 299 following Australia's early declaration on Monday India collapsed to 24-2 early on but finished comfortably on 177-4.

Sachin Tendulkar 49 and VVS Laxman 42 not out were resolute in defence. Earlier the Aussies took a surprisingly defensive route as they batted on to add 35 runs in the morning leaving India with 83 overs to negotiate.

Zaheer Khan was named man of the match. He and Ponting exchanged barbs in the post match comments.

Zaheer tore into the Aussies in the post match interview - he basically called out that they lacked confidence and were very defensive. Way to go Zak!

yes, the Aussies were too damn defensive. Katich should've scored much faster and they could have declared late on the 4th day. This draw sets up the series nicely.
