BCCI Chief Srinivasan is under severe stress to resign after Justice Mudgal handed down his findings. As if the news of a divide within the Justice Mudgal panel which in turn caused two reports to be submitted to the Supreme Court in place of one wasn't enough, another interesting twist has occured in the spot-fixing saga. A sealed envelope, marked 'For the Judges' only' has been submitted to the SC in addition to the two reports. The contents of the letter will not be made available to the petitioners. It certainly seems like there is a lot more to the saga than meets the eye as the envelope contains the names of persons allegedly involved in sporting fraud. Mudgal in his report has indicted BCCI president Srinivasan's son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan, who was team principal of Chennai Super Kings, for his role in betting in Indian Premier League (IPL). Srinivasan, who owns India Cements, had called Gurunath just a 'cricket enthusiast' when the scandal came to light. Mudgal, who was appointed by the Supreme Court to carry out a detailed probe into the spot-fixing and the betting scandal in last year's IPL, in his 170-page report said that India Cements failed to carry out its obligation according to Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) anti-corruption code.
