Root, Brook centuries power strong England reply: 1st Test, Day 3 (Multan)

Veteran Joe Root scored another majestic unbeaten century after surpassing Alastair Cook as England's top run-scorer in Test cricket on the third day of the opening match against Pakistan.

Root batted throughout the day for his 176 not out, taking England to 492-3, only 64 behind Pakistan. Harry Brook struck 141 not out as the pair dominated Pakistan.

Earlier, Zak Crawley was out for 78 and Ben Duckett recovered from his thumb injury to score a rapid 84.

England 492 for 3 (Root 176*, Brook 141*, Duckett 84, Crawley 78, Jamal 1-78) trail Pakistan 556 by 64 runs.
